  • How can I get to know other carers? When I take of my elderly relative with dementia, I feel it is a big responsibility and I need understanding and support from others. If I could meet other carers, we could share our experiences and would understand and support one another.

Many carers are tired of taking care of the elderly, worry about their condition and sometimes feel like giving up. They need people who are in a similar situation, with whom they could share these feelings.

Because of this, our Ginkgo website provides a forum for you to share your feelings, meet friends on the internet and receive support from them. Meanwhile, you can give advice which may help others.

In addition, you can join family support groups organized by other institutions like the Hong Kong Alzheimers Disease Association, to get to know other carers. Their telephone number is 23382277. Another organization providing such a service is the Community Rehabilitation Network of the Kong Hong Society for Rehabilitation. Their number is 27941122.
